Are you HUNGRY for more family time? Tired of trying to put dinner together at the last minute? Eating out too often, or settling for fast food when you yearn for delicious, nutritious dinners? My Family Dinners is committed to helping you overcome the hurdles that stand in the way of cooking and eating at home. Our goal is to simplify your life by helping you with the planning, shopping and preparation steps that can seem overwhelming.

From time to time, we will offer meal assembly sessions in Chattanooga. You are invited to attend these sessions to prepare dinners that can be packaged and frozen to cook and eat at home. We have also put together a recipe CD, “My Family Dinners – 50 Fabulous Entrees You Can Assemble and Freeze at Home”, which is designed to help you prepare dinners at home that can be frozen. In addition to the 50 recipes, the CD offers several valuable tips about everything from items to keep in your pantry to how to chop an onion. This CD is available for $20 + tax. Contact us for more information.

My Family Dinners is passionate about the importance of enjoying good food with your family. Family time at the dinner table is becoming a casualty of our busy lifestyles. Several years ago the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University ran a study to see what might be a predictor of kids’ behaviors. In a study of over 1200 children aged 12-17 and their parents they found that when it came to predicting kid’s behavior, eating dinner with family was one of the most important factors in predicting desirable behaviors in our children. These studies have been repeated every year and, every year, eating supper together regularly as a family tops the list of variables that are within our control.

I hope that you and your family will renew a commitment to share dinner together regularly. We want to help you with that commitment. In addition to our CD, we will continue to post recipes on our website, and the “Thoughts on Food” offers my thoughts on how we look at and consume foods today. “Buy, Eat Local” is specifically designed for Chattanooga residents to check out our locally owned restaurants and businesses that offer excellent quality and service.

Keep checking in with the website, and sign up for our newsletter. We send out news, recipes and information that you will find helpful as you make a commitment to enjoy more family time at the dinner table.
